Android Screen App for RGT Cycling

ANDROID SCREEN APP

IS THERE AN ANDROID SCREEN APP FOR RGT CYCLING?

“Yes” is the simple answer.

The slightly more complicated answer is “yes” but please read and understand the points below before downloading.

  1. The Android Screen App is still in BETA Mode
  2. There is no support commitment for the Android Screen App at the moment but we will try and help where possible
  3. The Android Screen App requires at least 4GB of RAM to run
  4. The Android Screen App cannot be download from the Google Play Store
  5. Do not install on RGT Screen and RGT Mobile on the same device

HOW DO I INSTALL THE RGT SREEN APP?

As the Screen App cannot be downloaded from the Google Play Store you must download the App directly from RGT and install manually. This is not as complicated as it sounds.

  1. Download the Android version of the RGT Screen App by clicking here
  2. Open Settings and then select Privacy, then Manage, then Special app access, then Install unknown apps
  3. Locate the file downloaded in Step One and tap it
  4. The App should now install with automatic system prompts

There may be some slight differences for Step Two depending on the version of the Android OS you are running.

Download on the Google Play Store

    Hi,
I’ve tried to install this on a Fire Stick 4K (by sideloading the app via downloader), but without success.
This should work, as the firetv is an Andoid TV device.
During install, it displays after a while the error:
    App not installed.
    Any clues?

      Hi
Although that sounds very inventive this isn’t supported hardware for RGT.
You are welcome to keep trying and I wish you luck with that, but I don’t think you will ever get it to work due to (but not limited to) the lack of processing power and graphics capability of the Fire Stick.

Hey Guys – I have managed to install it on Chromecast – and all good except the fact that i cannot login.
App is loading fine – but nothing happens when i try to type email, pass, or click on login.

Hi Alf! This may well interest other users! While not officially supported by RGT it would be worth you posting your experiences in the Facebook User Group 🙂
    Good luck with the testing!

      Hi Tim,
I have managed to login using external keyboard.Pressing / holding multiple times Enter (Return key)- i did managed to bring virtual keyboard – and type username and password.
So i did my first ride yesterday – using latest Google Chromecast as Screen App – and it was great fun.
I did experienced 2 major (5-10 seconds) dropouts in connection / reposnse when i was pedaling, but on Screen App – my character stopped. With latest chromecast i can’t edit/modify quality of screen app other than LOW settings. (which makes absolutely sense (as squeezing last drops of ram juice from this equipment).
Not sure if connection was caused by my firewall – but what i have noticed – in order to have updated list of users – android app (not Screen app) – you are using googleusercontent.com on port 80 – where anything else is working on 443 (Secure). I realised that at the end of the ride, and enabled it for port 80 too. Not sure if that is intend (maybe to reduce lag on Secure layer) but i would suggest to use on all thing 443.
One thing i can mention is in order for Screen App to work on Chromecast it is a must to have Power USB C hub
(cheapest version is https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0872V922X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1) and minimum 18W USB-C power supply, and USB stick – to expand Disk space
If you don’t have those already – then i would recommend buying Apple TV – where a) RGT Screen app is supported, and b) Overall cost of Chromecast + Hub + Power Supply + USB-Stick might be the same as Apple TV.

Sorry Tim, but i don’t have Crapbook (facebook) – so if you want – feel free to share it on FB group.

      Thanks.
      Great Fun.
      With Regards,
      Alf
